Cupcakes at the Covered Bridge Festival in Eighty Four, PA

Every September, Mingo Creek County Park in Eighty Four fills up for the Washington County Covered Bridge Festival, and the pink cupcake truck is there with it. In 2026 that was Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, at 232 Mingo Creek Road, and we plan to be back next September. Patti's Pastries has been baking by hand for over 40 years, and the Covered Bridge Festival is one of the fall events we plan the whole season around.

Eighty Four is rural Washington County: farms, Route 136, the 84 Lumber headquarters the town is best known for, and a park with two historic covered bridges inside it. It is a long way from a Downtown street festival, and that is exactly why we love it.

The Covered Bridge Festival at Mingo Creek Park

The festival is built around the Ebenezer and Henry covered bridges in Mingo Creek Park, with craft vendors, live music, antique engines, and food spread across the park grounds. It draws families from all over Washington County and well beyond, and it has the feel of a county fair with a lot more history.

This is a fall flavor weekend for us. Caramel Apple, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Dulce De Leche, and Bourbon Pecan Pie join the nine best sellers on the truck, and Caramel Apple usually wins. We bake extra for Saturday and still sell down by the afternoon.

The truck sets up with the other food vendors. Look for the pink trailer, and bring the kids.

Getting to the truck at Mingo Creek Park

Mingo Creek County Park is big, and the festival spreads across it. A few pointers for finding us:

Park entrance

The main entrance is on Mingo Creek Road off Route 136, about 10 minutes from Route 19 and I-79 at the Eighty Four exit.

Vendor rows

Food vendors set up near the main festival field between the Ebenezer and Henry covered bridges. Look for the pink trailer.

Timing

Saturday is the busier day. Sunday morning is the quietest window if you want to skip a line.

Parking

Festival parking fills by midday on Saturday. The shuttle lots are worth it, and the walk to the truck is short.

Fall catering around Eighty Four and Mingo Creek

The Covered Bridge Festival is the big one, but fall around Eighty Four means fire hall dinners, church harvest festivals, high school homecomings, and Halloween parties in Nottingham, Somerset, and Union townships. We cater all of them, either from the truck or with boxed deliveries and dessert displays.

Farm weddings are off our list, but farm birthdays, barn parties, and family reunions at the park pavilions are not. If you have a pavilion booked at Mingo Creek, we can deliver right to it. For a bigger crowd with room for the trailer, the truck is the easier answer.

Call (724) 770-0745 or send a booking request through our events page, and give us 4 to 6 weeks of notice for anything beyond a few dozen cupcakes.

Fall flavors you will find on the truck in Eighty Four

Alongside the best sellers, September and October bring these out:

  • Caramel Apple: the Covered Bridge Festival favorite.
  • Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Dulce De Leche.
  • Bourbon Pecan Pie, flavored like the pie, no bourbon required.
  • Snickerdoodle Gingerbread as the weather turns.
  • Gluten friendly cupcakes, every weekend.

What Eighty Four gets from Patti's

Handmade for 40 years

Our family bakes every cupcake by hand. It is the same way we made our first one four decades ago.

A festival regular

We know Mingo Creek Park, the vendor layout, and what sells on a cool September Saturday.

Country roads are no problem

The truck goes anywhere a car can. Rural Washington County is part of our normal route.

Family prices

A festival crowd should be able to buy a cupcake for everyone in the car. We price it that way.

Eighty Four and the townships around Mingo Creek

Eighty Four is a small community in Somerset Township, Washington County, best known for the lumber company that took its name. The area around it is farms, rolling hills, and the townships of Nottingham, Somerset, North Strabane, and Union, with Finleyville and the South Hills to the north and Washington city to the west.

The events here are the kind we like most: fire hall dinners, church festivals, Grange events, school fundraisers for Ringgold and Peters Township districts, and family parties at the park pavilions. The truck fits a fire hall lot as easily as a festival field, and boxed deliveries reach any farm with a driveway.

From our home base in Beaver County the run to Eighty Four is about an hour, so we group the area's deliveries and plan the truck stops around the Covered Bridge Festival weekend when we can.
